The turbocharger position is secured in its original OEM location, ensuring optimal compatibility.
We have designed all the plumbing to utilize OEM O-rings, OEM gaskets, and OEM turbo drain hoses, reflecting a great deal of thought and care in the product's development. Each component features an engraved F600 logo, highlighting our attention to detail. The removal and installation process is identical to the OEM setup, providing ease of use for technicians.
The end result is a highly capable package that remains discreetly hidden behind the motor while maintaining an aesthetically appealing appearance in the engine bay, resembling true OEM quality. Please note that the B Series engine is exceptionally strong and capable; this package can easily deliver 350 whp and 350 ft-lbs of torque on a stock engine using pump gas. We achieved 450 whp on the TU engine (2020-2024) using E30-E50 blends.
Please note, Mini F56 features B46, B46TU, and B48 engines. While these engines are very strong in stock form, we are limited by fuel grade to run them at their full potential. On pump gas, these motors can comfortably achieve 350 whp and 350 ft-lbs of torque. To exceed the 350 whp mark, ethanol blends are mandatory. The factory fuel system is capable of supporting up to 370 whp on E20 at 19-20 psi with the F600 kit. To run ethanol blends and higher boost levels, fuel system upgrades are required. The only engine suited for pump gas is the one fitted in the JCW GP3, JCW Clubman, and Countryman (B48). For the B46, ethanol blends are the only solution for tuning these motors more aggressively. Keep that in mind.

Thermal Management
If you look at the engine bay, it may appear that there isn’t much space behind the motor. However, we made sure to fit the F600 Turbocharger package as compact as possible. The radiant space from the exhaust manifold runners to the bulkhead panels is about 2 inches, plus or minus 0.5 inches.
We tested the radiant heat on the bulkhead panels with both the bare metal F600 and the thermal coated F600. We also discovered that the bulkhead panels in these cars are not the same. Although they share the same part number, the Pre-LCI car has superior bulkhead panels with an embossed aluminum shield, while the LCI cars only have fiberglass thermal insulation.
The good news is that the F56 chassis doesn't have the fuel line traveling close to the hot parts and we supply a heat-shield to protect Valve Cover and Charge Pipe before the turbo. The main concerns remaining, is to avoid melting the bulkhead panels on a long term and ensure that all the exhaust components flanges are properly seated to prevent any exhaust gas leaks.
What You Should Know:
The F600 kit runs cooler compared to the OEM turbo. However, you can never run too cool when it comes to heat management.
What causes exhaust temperatures to rise? It primarily depends on the tuning philosophy. Different tuners use various techniques to get good results. From experience, if you try to run these engines high on boost with low ignition timing, you will have to deal with high exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs). There is trial and error involved to optimize the tuning for the type of fuel in use to maintain EGTs within a reasonable range. These engines are very sensitive to fuel quality. Without cylinder head work or lowering engine compression, running ethanol blends is the best solution for a more aggressive tune.
Recommendations:
- For a street car, we suggest using Cerakoting from our local service provider, which can provide a drop in engine bay temperatures of 60-80°F.
- If you plan to track your car on pump gas (91-93), traditional heat wrap will perform better. We recommend Thermal Cerakoting first, then heat wrapping it. Heat wrap alone can trap moisture and lead to corrosion, which may affect part longevity in the long run.
- Another option for thermal management that is becoming popular, though limited in our market, is Thermal Embossed Shielding, which may be the best option if available.
- Using a Heat Blanket for Turbo Hot Side.
Cerakoting works effectively, but it’s not a permanent solution and will need to be redone over time based on your car’s operating environment.
For LCI Bulkhead Panels:
- Find a used Pre-LCI bulkhead with aluminum embossed shielding in the used car parts market.
- Alternatively, use DEI Heat Screen and apply them in areas closer to the manifold runners. Make sure the bulkhead panels are free of dust and grease before installation. Use rubbing alcohol to wipe the panels for optimal adhesion.
If you going to heat wrap your header, you won't need to worry about the bulkhead panels.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can I run this on an automatic car?
Yes, this can be run on an automatic car. However, it is essential to tune both the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) together to prepare for higher torque figures.
2. How can we get the TCU tuned?
To tune the TCU, you will need to ship it to us. Unfortunately, there is currently no tool available that allows for remote TCU flashing. Alternatively, you can rent a TCU flashing tool from us for a deposit of $1,500, which will be refunded once the tool is returned.
3. How can we get the DME tuned?
We offer several options for tuning the DME. For all pre-LCI vehicles, we can tune the DME using the Autotuner OBD2 One. This allows users to flash the DME directly from their location using their mobile phone. Our full remote support lets us upload files directly to your phone app via the cloud.
4. Do we need a dyno to get tuned?
Yes, a dyno is necessary to verify the work done and to determine if any further fine-tuning is required.
5. Do we have to log the vehicle to verify the tune?
Yes, it is mandatory to log the vehicle to verify how the tune performs.
6. What data logger do we have to use?
We will provide our own data logger, which operates from laptop software using an OBD2 Ethernet cable. Basic logging is complimentary, while advanced logging will incur a fee of $100 per VIN.
7. How do I setup the straight gate work with the original wastegate actuator?
To make the straight gate function, you need to transfer the actuator from your OEM turbo, assuming it is in good condition. A calibration procedure is also required, which can be done using our logging software or a genuine BMW scanner to calibrate the home position for the wastegate actuator.
8. How much power can I run on my stock engine?
It is the torque that is crucial, not just the horsepower. Early model Cooper S and JCW variants can safely run up to 350 ft-lbs of torque, while late models (2019-2024) can handle under 400 ft-lbs of torque. Horsepower figures will correspond to torque values at higher RPMs. These figures may change once the Multi-Point Injection (MPI) setup for full ethanol is tested. High torque and horsepower on ethanol fuels are safe for stock engine internals, as ethanol fuel produces a cooler and slower burn, resulting in better engine conditions to run more boost and advanced timing.
9. What is required to get our tuning support?
There are various options for tuning. For early models (2014-2019), the Bootmode Flasher/License is the best solution for at-home flashing. For 2019-2024 facelift models, you will need to ship the DME to us for unlocking using Autotuner and then use the OBD2 One from Autotuner to flash the DME via a phone app. It is advisable to ship the DME together with the TCU so all the calibration can be completed at once.
